Episode 1 > Discovering the mountain lakes

Are you tempted by the idea of getting away for a few days? Throughout this summer, let’s discover outdoor activities for your future mountain trips. Today, let’s focus on discovering the lakes in Courchevel.

Green nature, fresh air, endless horizons... dreaming of our next mountain holiday can be strong! Whether you enjoy the occasional walk in the mountains or are an experienced hiker, there are paths to suit all levels and all requirements to discover the 7 main lakes of the resort. While some are not hidden, other lakes are a little more hidden, like jewels of nature.
So, ready to put on your mountain boots? Follow the guide below.

1. Lac du Praz - 1300m

Directly accessible and visible on the main road of the village of Courchevel Le Praz, the Lac du Praz stands below the Olympic ski jumps. Set up for walking and relaxation, you can also follow the training and competitions of the world's best jumpers in live.

2. Lac de la Rosière - 1530m

Our favourite to meet up with the family: the lac de la Rosière, a treasure well hidden in the heart of the forest (Natura 2000-listed site) and one of the most beautiful natural sites in Courchevel. Here you can enjoy the coolness of the sparkling lake, picnics and barbecues or walks in the surrounding area for all levels up to the top of the Dent du Villard. The view is even more spectacular from the top, via hiking trails or from the via ferrata. Accessible by car from the centre of Courchevel Moriond (5 minutes) or by free shuttle bus, it is a wild change of scenery guaranteed at the foot of the Dent du Villard!

3. Lac Bleu - 2230m

You will reach the clear waters of Lac Bleu by walking along trails covered with rhododendrons. At the top, on the plateau of the Loze, as a reward, you will enjoy a magnificent panorama of mountain peaks at over 3000m altitude. A part of the hike can be done by ski lift (Verdons cable car).

4. Lac des Creux - 2238m

Located on the ski slope of the same name, a short walk will take you to the Lac des Creux and offer you a view of the Vanoise peaks. This lake is accessible from the Altiport (uphill itinerary) or from the summit of the Saulire (downhill itinerary).

5. Lac du Pêtre - 2282m

Accessible from the Lacs Merlet, extend the loop by a good hour's hike to discover Lac du Pêtre, in the heart of the Vanoise National Park.

7. Lac du Rateau - 2441m

In the middle of a mineral environment, discover the superb Lac du Rateau. This hike is designed for the most sporty and seasoned hikers with a technical trail. Happiness and solitude are the key words, once you reach the summit!
