At times it seemed impossible, but finally we are welcoming our first guests of the season into our luxury residences in both Les Gets and Courchevel. The villages are open and filled with life for the festive season, whist our properties are dressed in their finest Christmas outfits.

After much time spent at home this year, it’s no wonder that our guests decided to take a very special Christmas and New Year break in the mountains. Our spacious, individual apartments make the perfect base for a family holiday, whilst the crisp Alpine air will restore and refresh. Of course we continue to observe our own very strict hygiene protocol, which you can read in full here.

In both Les Gets and Courchevel, many unique and well-considered activities and entertainment have been planned for both Christmas and New Year. Here are some of our favourite suggestions!

Les Gets

Promising magic, enchantment and nature, Les Gets will pull out all the stops to create a truly memorable Christmas break. Of course the resort is already wearing its white blanket after the pre-season snowfall, making it the perfect base for Father Christmas.

Children’s ski lessons in the ESF snow garden will continue to take place on a private basis, which is excellent news if you plan to introduce your little ones to snow for the first time this winter. Club Piou Piou is located in the centre of the village on the snow front and provides an excellent welcome.

Father Christmas lives in Les Gets is an annual event filled with family merriment and fun. From his home in the forest on the outskirts of the village, and in the company of his helpful elves, Father Christmas is coordinating the gifts for children around the world. A trip to see him involves storytelling tours, workshops with the elves and a wonderful festive spirit. As you’d expect, excellent social distancing and hygiene procedures will be in place at this event, which takes place outside on a large site with controlled numbers.

Snowshoeing in Les Gets has also become increasingly popular in recent years, such is the gentle gradient of the mountains surrounding the village. With Annaski, our guests benefit from a programme of snowshoe tours by a profesionnal guide.

Cross country skiing is an excellent way to take exercise in the mountains, especially in the absence of the ski lifts! This is one of the most traditional mountain pursuits and you’ll find equipment for all ages available to rent in the local shops. Of course what does up, must come down, so you’ll finally experience the thrills of speed on Les Gets’s marked cross country routes.

Alta Lumina will celebrate its first winter in Les Gets and remains open with a reduced capacity throughout the season. This is an enchanted evening walk through the forest, punctuated by magical light displays and an imaginative feat of storytelling for all ages. Wrap up warm and enjoy the immersive experience which makes the most of the mountains.

Both shopping and window shopping will continue to be an enjoyable part of your festive holiday in the mountains. Who doesn’t enjoy wandering the streets of a mountain village at twilight after all? The artisan gift shops, local produce market and the sports shops of Les Gets have adapted their operators to welcome you in a safe and convenient way.

Courchevel

Whilst patiently waiting for the ski lifts of the Three Valleys to open, the resort of Courchevel has promised no shortage of activities across the resort this festive season. The village is renowned for its wide variety of activities and events and this Christmas and New Year are set to be no different.

Ski touring is a sport for all Alpine enthisiasts and Courchevel has authorized the preparation and use of three different ski touring routes across the domain. In Courchevel Moriond you’ll find the Ariondaz slope has been prepared for your up hill skiing pleasure, and of course the downhill will always be worth it.

Children’s beginner ski lessons will continue in Courchevel Moriond, even before the ski lifts open in January. The snow garden is prepared and ready for the arrival of the smallest learners, from the age of two years old. The Enchanted Ski Lifts is a magical resort event for all ages. From 21st December until 4th January, Courchevel lights up with no fewer than 15 Christmas-themed gondolas and chairlifts, your nearest being on the Place du Bachal in Courchevel Montriond. Also between these dates there’s a free treasure hunt involving a range of hidden QR codes for you to discover.

The Courchevel Christmas Parade takes place on 22nd, 23rd and 24th December, just before Father Christmas makes a dash back to the North Pole to coordinate deliveries on the big day. Before he leaves he’ll tour the streets and villages of Courchevel to bid one final festive greeting to all who’ve travelled to the mountains to celebrate. Expect a truly magical atmosphere where memories are made for years to come.
